Such a deep magical dream” by John Reiff Williams
The (picture in picture) boundaries and the interaction of the narrative exists between and within isolated (segmented encapsulated)_ shapes. This vessel holds the mystery within this piece.
There appears to be one dominant figure here (R), with two arms/extensions, one which is self reflective, mirror like, reaching across to the right and looking back/witnessing itself from a distance. Then there is another lower arm, busily seeking, scanning and searching, back and forth in the balance of space until it runs into to an end, Stop.
Many repetitive objects appear and reappear-circles, squares are discovered in repeating sequences within the vastness of this blue chasm where sunlight is not. The entirety of the piece, the objects and positions, seems to have emanated from feeling, pushing out at darkness as a sort of mapping.
This feels like such a deep magical dream.
These are my initial impressions. We all need to self reflect, sleep and dream in a deep magical place. Beautiful soulful work
