Dear Peter,
She is known to many as "The Sun Goddess" and in these days of 100˙F life, she may come to be known as "The Wet Bulb Goddess" destroyer of life on planet earth.
Her raised hand offers her no shade, no comfort and no relief, left just to bake in the inferno of the sun, WHY? What have we done? Do WE have the will to act in time to save ourselves? The hour is growing late for any real sign of relief from this manmade extinction. From her perch, sitting in the water, she is naked, vulnerable and alone. Perhaps the last of her kind to roam this planet. In this piece, she has becomes an icon in gold, a symbol of what is here and a sign of more to come.
I can hear her say..."We traded paradise for this?"
